Choose what the display is for
A handful of favorite medals can tell a clearer story than a crowded collection. Decide whether you want a reminder of a season, a distance or the people you ran with. Put the rest somewhere you can find them without needing to display everything.
Match the support to the weight
Medals can be surprisingly heavy when grouped together. Follow the hardware maker’s installation instructions and use fixings suitable for the wall. A shelf or a keepsake box is a good alternative where drilling is not practical.
Keep the story with the object
Write the event and date on a small card. Add the official result if you want, but leave space for a sentence about what the day meant. Store bibs and paper notes away from damp and direct sunlight.
