Record the version you made
A recipe link is useful, but a short note about the pan, portions and substitutions you used can be even more useful next time. Keep ingredient amounts with the recipe rather than trusting that you will remember a successful variation.
Plan around what is already there
Look through the refrigerator and cupboard before writing a list. Choose a few meals with overlapping ingredients and leave space for leftovers. A flexible plan is easier to use than a week that assumes every evening will go exactly as expected.
Make the note easy to find
Use one notebook or one clearly named folder. Give repeat favorites their own page and date experiments you want to revisit. Follow reliable food-safety guidance for storage and preparation rather than treating a casual kitchen note as a safety reference.
